What are the best photo shoot locations in Tomball?
No matter the city, this really depends on the look you’re trying to achieve.
I’ve learned that it’s not so much about what is in the background as it is more important to capture that “perfect lighting” right about sunrise or the twilight hours just before and at sunset.
If we have too much in the background, it is distracting and takes away from the subject. We want the focus to be on the people in the photos. Plain backgrounds with trees, flowers, a building and not a lot of clutter makes the subject stand out better and will create a stronger image. The goal is to complement the families or individual in the photos based on style and clothing choices.
For newborns, infants, and even some toddler sessions, my indoor studio works best. I have neutral backdrops and infant props.
For other sessions, I’ll happily travel to your favorite place that you may wish to feature in your photos and that includes your home. I’m open to suggestions and feel like what you want outweighs anything I may deem as “Best Tomball Photo Shoot Locations.”
Senior portraits are best done around the school, or using any extra-curricular activity locations as part of a background. The historical district of Tomball can make for some cool on location shots and if my clients want to use animals (dogs, cats, FFA show animals, or any other furry friends), we can travel to where those animals reside.
For family portraits, couples, maternity, etc., I love outdoor nature scenes. Something minimal without a lot of distracting background objects. Those choices can be found in my favorite spots below.
Tomball has many aesthetics with historical buildings, woods, railroad tracks, ponds, pastures, and many beautiful nature areas.
Some of my favorite spots include:
- Kleb Woods Nature Preserve
- Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve
- Tomball Historical District
- Burroughs Park
- Tomball Museum Center
- Carmen Nelson Bostick Cemetery (it’s not creepy, I promise. It’s historic and we photograph showing a beautiful sunrise over a pond, not the cemetery itself).
I also love going on a quest for railroad trestles. If you’re game for a road trip, I’d be down. This would be for couples, individuals, or senior sessions only.
I’d love an opportunity to work with you if you’d like to be a client, or if you’re a photographer and reading this, I’d welcome hearing your opinions on your favorite places to shoot. You can email me at spatek@fridaysfotography.com to get the conversation started or visit my Let’s Talk page.
