I often get asked the following:

“How do we schedule a newborn session when I don’t know for sure what day my baby will be born?”

You have enough to worry about preparing for your baby’s arrival, so I make my process to schedule very simple.  You let me know your due date and you are penciled in on my calendar once we take care of the paperwork.  All of the paperwork is stress free and easily done over your phone or computer.  We secure a firm date after your baby is born.

EASY PEASY!!

If your baby is premature, no need to worry about it being different from your due date.  We are flexible with when it’s best to bring your baby in for portraits.  You soon learn your baby is the boss and we will work around what they dictate.  It’s best to schedule closer to the original due date anyway because we want to make sure your baby has filled out in weight and is strong and healthy for the session.

If your baby is born near your due date or even late, we don’t have to narrow down the exact week until baby is born.  I only schedule so many sessions in a month, so there’s always a spot on the calendar for anyone who has booked with me in advance no matter when your baby is born.

My sessions are always on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday at 10 AM in my studio.  Having the session in my studio helps me to make sure I have the equipment that I need in the warm, safe environment I require for my sessions.

In order to confirm that you are penciled in on my calendar, you will need to pay your retainer fee, sign your contract and fill out the questionnaire that I use to help me best set up your session with your desired color schemes and props.

I get numerous inquiries via Facebook messages, Instagram messages, and comments, so when you first reach out, I always ask that you fill out an inquiry on my website.  That way we can begin conversations via email and have everything all in one place that I will print out and add to your file.

I don’t mind answering questions via text or a phone call, but I like to make sure on the morning of our session I don’t miss anything you inquired about or requested, so it’s important to have the initial inquiry via my website and the questionnaire completed to make sure everything is in your file to refer back to on your session date.  I also suggest following up with any of our conversations via email, so that it’s printed and in your folder.

Once your questions have been answered and you are ready to schedule, I’ll send your invoice, contract, and questionnaire.  After all of that is completed by you and received by me, I send a Newborn Prep Guide which helps you know more about what to expect for your session and how to prepare.  The Prep Guide should cover everything you need to know, but you can still reach out to me via text, email, or a phone call to go over anything else that you need to have clarified.

It’s nice to have everything taken care of well before your baby arrives, so you can focus on your pregnancy, preparing your home, and waiting for baby.  The photo session is meant to be something that is a stress free, fun experience for you and your family.

Once your sweet baby arrives, you send me a message to let me know the birth has happened and we will set our firm date.  I strive to have a stress-free environment during the photos.  I’ll take care of everything and always enjoy meeting new parents.  It’s such a special time in my client’s lives and I get such joy out of meeting new families and their precious babies.  I’d be grateful for a chance to work with you.
